Irish thwart Knights upset bid

Central Catholic came into Friday’s game versus crosstown rival St. Francis de Sales ranked #2 in division III and touting a 22-game series win streak. Using a stout defense the Irish three turnovers (1 fumble & 2 interceptions) to secure the victory. The defense forced a fumble late in the 1st half which led to score with seconds remaining to take a 7-0 lead into the lockeroom. In the 3rd quarter the Knights were able to tie the game on the strength of an Eli Beal (23 carries for 156 yards) 38-yard jaunt. In the 4th quarter St. Francis threw 2 interceptions that led to Central Catholic scores and put the game out of reach. Tyler Morgan led the Irish with 93 yards on the ground as Central moves to 8-1 (#1 division III region 10 playoff position “Joe Eitel”. St. Francis falls to 6-3 (#11 division II region 6 playoff position “Joe Eitel”)
