St. John’s comeback is thwarted in overtime.
The St. John’s titans led by Blake Lichtenberg’s 185 yds passing and 119 yds on the ground fell short in overtime to the Perrysburg yellow jackets 48-41. Perrysburg led 21-7 on the strength of the duo of TJ Takats (185yds passing) and University of Toledo bound Conner Walendzak (145yds rushing). As the Titans mounted a comeback, they were aided by two missed conversions after Yellow Jacket scores. Complementing Lichtenburg’s output was the punishing running of Aaron Lovett. Down the stretch both defenses made solid plays getting much needed stops. In overtime Perrysburg got the ball 1st and scored but were aided on the drive by a late defensive penalty on St. John’s. The Titan’s possession stalled when Lichtenberg was shaken up and had to leave the game and the Yellow Jackets took home the victory.
