Back to Back

The Start Spartans won their second straight Toledo City League Title over the Scott Bulldogs 57-53. With an 11-point lead at halftime it looked as if the Spartans were going to cruise to the title with ease. With approximately three minutes left in the third the Bulldogs started to trim the Spartan lead. Shooting the double bonus much of the fourth quarter Scott gave themselves a puncher’s chance by continuously heading to the line with Daryl Barnett leading the charge. Scott shrank the lead but missed four consecutive free throws which gave Start the opportunity to seal the game with two free throws from Stone Edwards. Start (14-6) has now won four out of the last five City League titles. Next up for both teams are sectional tournament.
